In the Philippines, jeepneys are the most popular means of public transportation, a symbol of Philippine culture, painted in vibrant colors and said to be the king of the road.

Last July 4, 2007, these jeepneys just got environment friendly with the newly lunched e-jeepney, a 5 horsepower electric motor engines with 12 batteries that allow the e-jeepneys to run 120 to 140 kilometer at around 40 kph when in full capacity.

The batteries are charged for eight hours on ordinary 220-volt power sockets at a minimum cost of P120.
These eJeepney are great steps in lessening our dependency on fuel and help mitigate the problem in global warming, innovations and improvements will make these vehicles a lot useful and better, a good example would be the capability of recharging its battery from other resources, like solar energy and wind.

can wait to see this rolling on the metropolis, way to go philippines. Looking forward on the solar and wind energy powered ones. Hope they consider making sedan too.
Salute to great Filipino engineers!
We need to have more invention and discoveries to help in the worsening situation on the dependability of our machines from non-renewable fuel (crude)…
We’ in fact can produce fuel out of used cooking oil… and you save an instant 25% on gas consumption… no need for conversation, and I myself used it for my Honda wave 100, a value budget of 1 peso a day for an additional 30% mileage!

I know a friend running a Hydrogen-fueled Jeepney in the Philippines
